The East Essex Sabres played host to the East Kent Mavericks over the weekend and were once again looking for their first win of the season in the British American Football Association Division 2 East.
But once again the Sabres were unable to match the experience of the Mavericks who ran out winners 0 – 40.
With that said, Adam Davis-Collins who plays Defensive End with the Sabres had this to say about todays performance, “Through out the game I personally noticed a lot of positive’s in the game, for instance there was a big completion from Quarterback James Dawson to Kyle Bury for a 30yrd gain just before the half, there were big yardage runs from Running Back Mitchell Waters throughout the game and at the start of the second half Running Back Buster Hodges made a 60yrd kick return as a result of some solid blocking up front, the Defence forced the Mavs offence to turn the ball over on 3 occasions”
Defensive Coordinator Kirk Beacham also had this to say about the game, “This is another tough loss, we played hard and we played for each other but we can’t continue to shoot ourselves in the foot if we want to pick up our first win. All we can do is learn from our mistakes and prepare to put them right in our next game”
Next Sunday the 9th July the East Essex Sabres are on the road once again where the Ipswich Cardinals will be their Hosts, lets hope the second half of the season can pay dividends for this wounded pack of Sabres…
